Suspect Confesses to Murder and Attempted Beheading of Man in Late 2022

PHNOM PENH: Authorities have cracked the case of a man's murder, which took place on 26 December 2022 in Dangkor district. Two assailants were arrested on Monday morning, 6 February 2023.

Dangkor District Police Inspector, Colonel Chim Sitha, confirmed to EAC News that this Monday morning, police arrested two suspects in connection to the murder of a man in Phsar Lech village, Prek Pnov commune, Prek district, Phnom Penh.

Colonel Chim Sitha said that the two suspects are a married couple and that the suspect's wife was a cousin of the victim.

The husband confessed to stabbing the victim to death and attempting to behead his body at an abandoned car wash in Dangkor district back on 26 December 2022, according to the Dangkor district police inspectorate. The motive behind the murder is believed to be jealousy, as the husband was angry with his wife for being secretly in love with the victim, her cousin.

Colonel Chim Sitha has stated that the two suspects are currently being detained while their case is built and sent to court for further legal proceedings. The two arrested are Pich Chivoan and his wife Daya.
